Our Ethos of Sustainability and Corporate Citizenship
Conference Organisers is always committed to an ethos of sustainability within its office environment and throughout the events, conference and exhibitions it manages. We are always keen to work with suppliers and venues that share that same ethos with us. The key areas are we consider are litter, waste, water, energy and travel.
1. Litter and Waste
As a company, we know the effects of litter and waste can be reduced if we adopt the principles of REDUCE, REUSE and RECYCLE. We reduce our litter by only buying things we need, limited printing materials, have as little packaging as possible and always buy materials that can be recycled. We encourage all venues to implement a “no single use materials” policy. We use wastepaper for art or as scrap paper and shred and recycle sensitive documents, and our ink cartridges are recycled. And where possible, we also have recycling bins at our conference and exhibition venues.
2. Water, Food and Beverages
We are always conscious of our water consumption in our office and in venues during events. We source suppliers that have sustainable policies in place and recognise the importance of using local producers.
3. Tours
We propose to plan an “environmental tour” which will be offered to all delegates and accompanying persons.
4. Energy
Conference Organisers tries to minimise its energy usage in its offices and during conferences and exhibitions. We always use CFL bulbs, buy A-rated appliances and are conscious of using local suppliers when working internationally.
5. Corporate Social Responsibility
Conference Organisers has helped the local community with the organisation of its Lobster Festival Weekend run annually in Dalkey Village. Conference Organisers Limited ‘Sponsored a Star’ supporting Focus Ireland in 2017, 2018 and 2019, the National Yacht Club Junior Regatta in 2016 and the Tiglin Challenge in 2014. We also undertook beach cleaning with Clean Coasts in 2020. We were award finalists at the Event Industry Awards in 2017, 2018 and 2019.
6. Travel
Conference Organisers endeavour to minimise staff travel by holding conference calls instead of ‘face to face’ meetings and employing local staff when feasible. In the age of growing communication technology Conference Organisers has been involved in many conferences where the delegates ‘attend’ by means of webcasting and proceedings are issued on line.
